Funding from CAL FIRE enabled significantly improved access to a local water resource to fight wildfire on the San Juan Ridge. NCRCD and CAL FIRE NEU partered on this initiative after being approached by private landowners offering their water reserves for fire fighting. The project scope included a timber harvest plan, vegetation management, opening up the brush that was overgrowing and removing trees that were limiting access to large fire vehicles.
